Federation of International Ninja Athletics
FINA Season VII separates competition into Speed, Endurance, and Ninja vs. Ninja disciplines, with qualifiers feeding Sectionals and July 2026 Finals.
How the League Works
01
FINA Season VII includes discipline-specific Speed events, discipline-specific Endurance events, Dual events with both Speed and Endurance, and Ninja vs. Ninja events.
02
FINA events must be open to all eligible athletes. Partner gyms may limit registration only for physical or staffing capacity, and those limits must be approved before registration opens.
03
Athletes may participate in any FINA event for which they are eligible, regardless of geography.
04
Athletes must compete in the division for which they are eligible by age and gender. Athletes may compete up one age division, but once they compete in a division, they must stay in that division for the rest of Season VII.
05
Speed courses have eight obstacles. Athletes qualify to Speed Sectionals by clearing all eight obstacles within the time limit, placing top three in division at a Speed event, or earning 21 Speed points during the season.
06
Endurance courses have 12 obstacles. Athletes qualify to Endurance Sectionals by clearing all 12 obstacles within the time limit, placing top three in division at an Endurance event, or earning 25 Endurance points during the season.
07
Athletes must qualify for Speed Sectionals and Endurance Sectionals separately.
08
At Sectionals, the top eight athletes in each division for each event advance to FINA Finals. If ninth and tenth place in a division are full course clears, those athletes also advance.
09
Athletes who already qualified to FINA Finals do not count when determining how many athletes qualify from a Sectional.
10
Athletes qualify to Ninja vs. Ninja Finals by qualifying to Speed or Endurance Finals, or by finishing top four in their division at a Season VII Ninja vs. Ninja event.
11
To be eligible for the overall FINA World Championship, athletes must compete in all three Finals events: Speed, Endurance, and Ninja vs. Ninja.
Course Rules
FINA course details and obstacle setup may not be released before the event. Athletes may not practice on or access the FINA course before their competition run.
Partner gyms may post a course walkthrough video up to three days before competition, but athletes still may not touch or use the course before the event.
FINA courses must be different from the gym's normal setup. Common gym obstacles may be used, but they should be arranged in an unfamiliar configuration.
All event courses must be approved by the FINA Course Approver before the event.
Course officials may not coach or assist specific athletes during the event.
Run order must be randomized before publication. Athletes registered after the registration window or after run order publication run first in their division.
Every FINA event must begin with a distinct starting sound. If there is no timing system sound, a consistent verbal countdown is acceptable.
A false start immediately stops the run and returns the athlete to the starting platform. A second false start on the same course attempt disqualifies that attempt under the course-specific rules.
Every obstacle must begin from a clearly defined starting platform or starting point. Beginning an obstacle from anywhere else is an obstacle fail unless the course rules specifically allow linking.
Every obstacle must end with a clearly defined landing platform, landing area, or finish line. To earn the point, the athlete must clearly land on or beyond the designated finish under control.
Each obstacle is worth one point regardless of length or difficulty, and athletes must have a fair opportunity to earn each obstacle point independently.
One failure cannot remove the chance to earn multiple obstacle points. If forced linked obstacles are used, the athlete must still have access to attempt the next point after failing the previous one.
FINA Speed Finals are scored like Speed Qualifiers and Sectionals: one point per obstacle completed within the time limit, two runs on the course, and only the best run recorded.
FINA Endurance Finals are scored like Endurance Qualifiers and Sectionals: one point per obstacle completed within the time limit and one run on the course.
Finals run orders are set by Sectionals results first, then total season obstacle points in the relevant discipline.
